Welcome on in to my Studio
Hey gorgeous. I'm Ingrid Lecke. a.k.a Ingrid Luna. WelI I guess this is where I do the good old traditional intro me and my art stuff.
In a nutshell, I've been creative and artistic for as long as I can remember. But after getting high marks for my HSC final artwork and being invited into ArtExpress,(an Australian travelling exhibition that selects 2 HSC works from each state) I was steered away from my artistic goods because being an artist was sold to me as a hobby and I needed to get a "real job".
But the love for an entrepreneurial artistic journey didn't leave me and I created and ran many of my own businesses for decades. Until eventually I came back to art. I was asked to create a self portrait in a self development program I was in. I drew a very abstract version of this in Zentangle style. Then I posted it online and I started getting requests for commissions. Which shocked me. One led to another and another.
For me, constantly drawing for others and not myself became boring and I felt like this style wasn't really reflecting me. Nor was it freeing and expressive like I wanted to be.
So I began painting. Self taught. Trying. Failing. Experimenting. UntilI I remembered "success leaves clues". Which meant learning from artists I loved and admired.
Tahlia Stanton's 'The Pioneering Artist' was a no brainer and is jam packed with so many resources and lessons to do at my own pace. So I began learnign from her amd her process. Which I LOOOVVEEEE.
So here I am. A single mama of 2 amazing teen boys, living in coastal Victoria, swimming all year round and being inspired by nature while I create pieces of work and learn who the f$@k I am as I go so as to be able to translate that onto canvas.
SO much inspires me. From the reflection in the ocean from the sunshine to other artists to the colours on my fave tee. I'm in love with this process of creating and feel like each of my pieces are infused with an energy that can be felt by collectors. Almost like when you look at my work you remember. Who you are, why you're here and how f&$king brilliant you actually are.
So thank you for being here gorgeous and reading through my TED talk. Haha.
Have a fab day and an epic life. xo
